Dell Continues Central Texas Expansion
Company Prepares to Break Ground On Server and Workstation Facility
Moves Forward On Manufacturing Campus
ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 1998--Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq:DELL - news) announced today plans to begin development of a new, 570-acre manufacturing campus with the construction of a manufacturing facility for servers and workstations which will add 800 new jobs to the company's local employment.

The new facility is needed in response to strong customer demand for Dell's enterprise systems business, comprising advanced server and workstation products. This 300,000 square-foot facility is expected to employ 1,200 when fully staffed. Revenues from Dell's enterprise systems business grew more than 250 percent last year, propelling Dell to the No. 3 position in server sales in the U.S. and the No. 4 position worldwide. The company already has become the No. 3 supplier worldwide of workstations based on the Microsoft NT(R) operating system, according to International Data Corp.
