Freeus,
We don't have as much trouble with that here though they won't let you build right on the rivers anymore. Most townships require at least a 2 acre plot to build on unless it is in an incorporated area i.e. town. If you sell a house you have to bring the septic up to code which ain't cheap. Some areas near water only allow holding tanks that have to be pumped out on a monthly basis. I live on top of a hill in the house my great grandpa bought in 1907 so I don't get bothered too much.

At least half the county is State or Federal land so there is lots of room for critters around here. Alot of us are still upset at the Feds for taking a big part of the Lake Michigan coast to make Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. Now they won't even let us spend the night on the beach and they (park service) spent the last twenty years trying to take a canoe livery away from the owners. They failed thank God.
