Dennis,
MSWIN Strengths:
- Indicators - Lots available, Creating custom indicators is simple.
- Excellent GUI interface - drag and drop; right click everything
- Explorer lets you scan multiple stocks for opportunities
- Experts (standard or custom) can be attached to charts (to highlight, add symbols)
- Manual is well written and informative (530+ pages)
- MSWIN is a powerful TA tool.

Weaknesses/Gripes:
- System Tester - can test only 1 stock at a time (but can compare multiple systems); Windows on Wallstreet can test multiple stocks, but actual tester is less powerful.
- Data Management - "inefficient" manner of storing daily data; proprietary attitude by Equis about "sharing" latest internal formats with other data vendors. This is irritating, but doesn't prevent us from integrating with data sources (TC2000, Quotes Plus)

There have been posts which gave more detail and comments (somewhere in the 1600+ posts in this thread). Encourage you to look around. You'll see how powerful MSWIN is.

Paul

Dennis, one feature that I have begun to appreciate only recently is the ability to test the effectiveness of any scan you create by putting it in the "expert" bar that goes across the horizontal (time) axis. What this allows you to do is to look at a ticker's chart and see when your system would have had you buy (and sell) the stock over whatever time period you are showing in the chart. This is a very powerful feature because you can on the basis of this immediate visual feedback make adjustments to your scan (like, for example, addding/delting/changing scan criteria) and immediately see the impact on your buy/sell decision.
