Dell was 120 in April or something like that - pre split. Now its 135 post split. (actually it was lower than that, thats just what I recall). Also amat in 1993 or 1994 went up around 100 points, all this was pre-split of course - and around the same timeframe orcl had a 90 point runup within a year, I was working there at the time, and my options were set at 12 (the stock actually got lower) and expired that year at 90. Of course when you look at the chart in yahoo it doesnt look like that ever happened since they take splits into account. For that matter, even in the 80's before current valuation levels aapl had a year (1987 before the crash?) where they went up almost 100 pts.

I wasnt trying to say that this is an everyday occurance but it has happened and I've never noticed an automatic selloff - thats not to say that there isn't one, just that I havent noticed it.
