PX, > IBM is one of WDC's largest customers! Aren't they?<

I don't know.
But I checked.

WDC Feb'98 quarterly report
sec.yahoo.com

During each of 1995 and 1996, sales to Gateway 2000 accounted
for 11% of revenues. During 1997, sales to IBM accounted for
13% of revenues. For the six months ended December 27, 1997,
sales to Compaq and IBM accounted for 14% and 12% of revenues, respectively.

IBM is indeed a large customer of WDC.
I don't see why IBM would want to acquire
the laggard in the adoption of MR technology.
