TSO:

14 years is a long time! Have you noticed how none of these companies were talking of converting to logic in 1994/1995/good part of 1996?

There is logic and there is fancy logic. LSI is fancy logic.

Suspect that it will not be as difficult for companies to do the "logic" market as opposed to the "fancy logic" market. Recall an article about Koreans shelving plans to do the custom ASIC route because of the complexities involved.

However give them a little bit of time and DRAM prices to recover sometime later this year and next. Then that 14 years timeframe may get pushed out.

The lure of easy money making a simple commodity chip versus the complications of fancy logic must tilt the Koreans in favor of DRAM is the prices come anywhere close to recovering.

Don't know the dynamics entirely but suspect that LSI has at least 1 more up cycle (3-5 years) before things get anywhere close to perilous.

That's the way I'm playing it. Something to watch out on the horizon but not quite yet.

Shane.
