Brian, Re: "You shouldn't put Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles down like that."

It was Paul that made the joke. I just said I got a great laugh out of it. I think that Ray Charles, especially, is a genius when it comes to music, have seen him perform in person at the Paul Masson outdoor theatre in the Santa Cruz mountains.

Re: "even they can see that AMD needs help.<ggg> From what I understand, AMD
just grabs a bunch of components and throws them in the air. Where they land provides the
configuration for the initial prototype.

Kind of like "let the chips fall where they may?"

Re: "Every place I have been, they always do failure analysis first to prevent problems. So I guess AMD
just kind of swags it and tries to pick up the pieces later. Why should the K7 be any different?"

Yes, also called simulation, where you use today's computers to simulate the operation of the next generation computers or CPU chips.
I hear AMD uses an array of abacus's, or is it abaci, to do this.
