The reason I thought you were referring to techs was this part in your post:

Pertains to the question that Addi once asked me whether I think technology companies will do well in the future. My reply was along the lines of "Yes, they sure will but...",

Being that Addi is a tech bull I was reading tech for technology companies.

Anyway I think the point is that with the semis we have such wide swings and short cycles (or so it seems these days!) the stocks do come back every now and then.

The mistake is investing everything at or near the top of the cycle - in which case the portfolio is:

toasted, roasted and marinated.
