Chris, I would think she wanted to be as wise as God. After all, satan knew what would tempt her the most. To be as wise as God so she wouldn't have to obey him. Ever since that time, it indicated to me the beginning of the first woman's libber! (G)

<< She disobeys God's commandment and follows after her own lust at the prompting of the serpent, and thus shows us the root of sin for the whole human race. >>

At this point, God realized that there was a fault in the creation of mankind. Instead of allowing mankind to be cursed with sin, God had the power to start over again with another Adam and Eve. All He had to do is tweak the new Adam and Eve with a little more wisdom, but without tampering with Free Will. Why He didn't do this, is for God to know.

He also had to power to create an Eve without "lust". But, He, in His infinite wisdom, chose otherwise.

Regards, Bob

Chris & Robert,
Satan was created equal with the other two Ark-Angels (sp?) Michael and Gabriel. He was created with attributes that fit his current character. It said somewhere that Licifer was a destroyer from the beginning (I think Jesus said that). Maybe pride went with that and lies and so on. Satan started out as an ark-angel and was in charge of 1/3rd of the rest of the angels tha same as Michael and Gabriel. He is a renegade angel, no more powerful that the other two. But that's still a lot of power. Jesus has defeated satan now and taken the authority he tricked adam into surrending. Do you think his plan was to get that authority over God's creation when he showed up and started talking to Eve? Good possibility that was his purpose all along. He wanted to be the god of this world. Now he is nothing with little time left for mischief. Bob

Chris:

I think some things we might never know the answer to. I believe God made Adam / Eve complete (perfect) and innocent. They were created without a sin nature (no predisposition toward sin).

To me the eternal question is why would a being without a predisposition toward sin choose to disobey God, temptation or no temptation?

Why did Jesus choose to obey, while Adam didn't? Both were created with the same nature. Although Jesus had two natures, it appears from scripture he walked here on earth in his human nature completely submissive to the Father.

Perhaps someday we'll know.

Cheers,

KMT
