Winer, Sad but true, they are their own worst enemies. What do they think will happen if they become a French enclave?, they will go back in time. The real French do not want them, except as vassals, like St Pierre and Miquelon who exists only to smuggle goods to the USA/Canada. They think now they will take no debt. They should realize they will never leave as we will not allow it no matter how they vote.

Hi Winer, Thanks, and I just have to say that you must be a masochist living in Quebec. One of my sons was a staunch defender of the French and their complaints, but he then moved to Montreal and spent five years there. Let's just say it changed his mind and although he loved Montreal, he had his eyes opened on the fairness of these people, whether it was in the education sector, or the employment sector. One remark he made which stood out above all others was that in a discussion, they ramble on endlessly about their viewpoint, but they never listen to the other persons viewpoint. Their view is the only view as far as they are concerned. My first husband was French, from Quebec, and he always said they should spend a few years in English Canada and it may open their eyes to the realities. He felt if they could look at Quebec from the outside, they would come to the inevitable conclusion that they probably received more benefits from the Feds than any other province in the country.

As far as the education fund goes, we too have a government who thinks you can live on credit and would probably spend the money for other things as well, but I don't like the idea of the Feds taking our taxpayer money and then using it to memorialize Chretien. A portion of it did come out of the pockets of British Columbians.

Glad to be back.

Cheers

Shirley
