Jim,

Oh, I just checked the news bulletins. You must be talking about the following:

ANADIGICS, Inc. ANAD today announced that it will take a $1.1 million charge in the first quarter of 1998 related to staff reductions. The charge reflects estimated severance and outplacement costs in conjunction with a staff reduction totaling 100 of the Company's 580 employees.

Ronald Rosenzweig, President and Chief Executive Officer of ANADIGICS, commented, "We are taking what we believe to be the necessary actions to better align our costs with the current lower level of demand in our wireless business as disclosed in our fourth quarter press release. In the case of our employees, we regret having to take this action.

"At the same time we are continuing to make key investments in new product development. In our wireless business, ANADIGICS recently introduced a new family of 3 volt GaAs power amplifiers. This family of four products addresses all the major cellular standards - AMPS, DAMPS, GSM and CDMA. Further, the Company unveiled two additional GaAs power amplifiers in its dual-band/dual-mode family. Both power amplifiers feature a high level of integration by offering the functionality of two amplifiers packaged in one low cost, surface mount package. This allows designers an alternative to the use of two separate amplifier designs, enabling them to make smaller and more cost-effective telephones."

Yeah, just after I bought another 200 shares. I've been searching for any news other than the impending layoffs and have come up empty.
