Compaq Computer on Monday released three remote-access servers, each a version of an existing Compaq server, bundled with Windows NT and other functional software. The Remote Access Server (RAS) 5601 is a Compaq ProLiant 1600 server with a single ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI)/T1/E1 interface built in to the chassis. The server is a dual-Pentium II model, and remote-access capabilities can be scaled to as many as four T1 or PRI lines. The RAS 5408 is a Compaq ProSignia 200 server with eight built-in ISDN Basic Rate Interface ports. The ProSignia 200 is a single-processor Pentium II server. The RAS 5601 and 5408 can be used with both analog and digital telephone lines. The RAS 5208 is also a Compaq ProSignia 200, this model with an eight-port analog modem built in. All of the new models are pre-installed with Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 as well as a suite of business communications and Internet software by RAScom. Security mechanisms are also included. The units are available now. Pricing for the RAS 5208 is $5,939, the RAS 5408 costs $12,539, and the RAS 5601 costs $15,069.
