Jim, The media GX will seel for a lot less, I think IBM sells complete motherboards with chips and all with I/O, FDD, HDD and video on board for under $175?. It is a good chip and will contribute to the downslaught.
IBM always tries to sell for more than others, that is why it lost so much share.
At what point does CPU price dropping run into immutable monitor costs, FDD and CD-ROM costs etc. Memory has plateaued. now and it is only CPU price drops fueling the race. True hard drives have fallen, but they have plateaued in price and capacity is rising rahter that low cap HDD falling further they just make bigger HDD.
