Glad to see someone get DSL with the right mix of technologies - ie.: ATM not IP as Lucent would have you do it. ATM is good in the 1 to 8MB subscriber market and up to the 2.5 GB collapsed backbone market.
But, for big carriers who have 40GB backbones, it doesn't make sense to break everything up into 53 byte cells. You end up wasting an awful lot of spectrum. Expect to see an ATM-II or something with a bigger payload, so you don't have to break up every IP frame into multiple cells.

I was doing a "technical division by zero" when I read about Lucents' native IP ADSL. Now, I feel reassured from a basic technical perspective.
