To build support for it, Microsoft invited Intel and Compaq to help write the PC98 spec--which Microsoft says isn't really a spec or a reference design at all but merely a "design guide"--and it grandly lists almost 100 PC hardware designers and makers who contributed ideas for the spec. zdnet.com
