Jack,

I have followed your posts to this thread over the last year
vis-a-vis MRCM vs MAPX. Based on the MAPX yearly report, they
are re-writing MAPICS XA in Java... so in the end, there wont be
any "baggage" to carry along I would guess. My only worry is
how long this conversion process to client/server is going to
take [and how long before growth picks up substantially].

I am new to this thread and the Marcam/Mapics history. Looks like
a long and involved story. My only criteria for not looking into
Marcam is that they have no earnings. Call me silly, but we all
have our own investment filters -- mine are simply to never buy
stocks with negative earnings, never bottom fish, and never buy
stocks with P/E > 30. Ok, I am going to miss out on some great
stocks... but there are plenty of fish in the sea meeting my
criteria (strong companies with good growth (>30%) and modest P/E).

I will keep checking on Marcam to see if they become profitable...
in the meantine I hope you make a killing on the stock!

regards, Bill

Marcam v. mapics. If Marcam is the future, when does it get here? Protean came out in, I think, '94 and, to me, has never caught on. The Mapics business may be a cash cow but there are lots of those out there. It still has a nice steady growth rate.
