Hi Ken,
While I recognize that these "political connections" may not be best accessed by laying them out in the public eye, can they be approached privately for help? Are they good enough to push thru Congress a private bill to reimburse investors for their losses? It doesn't sound like they bear any personal culpability, but you're right, they might be concerned by the connection itself enough to want to help.
