From Zack's this morning:

AMZN was downgraded to a 3 from a 2 (out of 5):

AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP decreased estimate for quarter ending
03/98 from $-0.44 to $-0.49 on 02/10/98
AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP decreased estimate for quarter ending
03/99 from $-0.22 to $-0.26 on 02/10/98
AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP decreased estimate for quarter ending
06/98 from $-0.39 to $-0.43 on 02/10/98
AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP increased estimate for quarter ending
09/98 from $-0.35 to $-0.34 on 02/10/98
AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP increased estimate for quarter ending
09/99 from $-0.08 to $-0.03 on 02/10/98
AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP increased estimate for quarter ending
12/98 from $-0.17 to $-0.09 on 02/10/98
AMZN: BANCAM/ROB STEP made new estimate for quarter ending
12/99 of $0.34 on 02/10/98

Looks like the next year losses have all been increased and only in 1999 did they make any increases. Obviously the picture looks bad in the short term and in order to put some positve spin on it BANCAM is raising the 1999 losses to 'lesser losses'. I am sure that they will change those several times again, just as they changed the shorter term forecast today. Thats a total loss for 1998 of $ 1.34

;^)

I swear Briefing must have two different people commenting on AMZN. I distinctly remember a quote a few weeks ago on Briefing that stated how impressed they were with AMZN.

Oh well, the longs will continue to dream of profits in the year 2008 while the shorts dream of a more traditional valuation. Who will make more money ....
