Charles P.Reilly ( sorry about the earlier misspelling ) is now chairman...SSB is obligated to keep up with the company by virtue of it's 1995 ( not 1996 ) convertible underwriting, but it seems more a prefunctory one, rather than that of a committed supporter/believer.

More on Wasserstein ( Perella should really be leftoff the masthead since he has decamped for Morgan Stanley to take the place of the vaunted former head of their investment banking division,Bob Greenhill?-spelling ?)- they were the de riguer firm to include in every investment banking deal in the '80s, when Mike Milliken and Drexel cut a wide swath over the corporate restructuring landscape. The firm met its waterloo in structuring the Campeau takeover of Federated Department Stores, too richly. Wasserstein's sister Wendy,the playwright, is the better known personality these days and sat with Regis Lee at the TWX 75 year anniversary bash in NYC last night.
