Oh really now, let's be serious. I love my mac, but the 20th version was a total waste of time for them to build. The 12.1 screen is too small (flat or not); the 4x CD rom is to damn slow; it's got a 603e chip - and it costs too damn much!! even at $1999.00.

I think proposing realistic combinations of Mac stuff with the best other hardware is the best plan for keeping in business. For example consider the following:

G3/233 - about $1561.00 (although I still like the 7300/180)
Hitachi superscan elite $510.00 from multiwave (0.22 dot horiz.)
techworks 3DfX $189.00 + VPC 2.0 $41.00 (plays the PC games)
Altex Lansing 43 speakers $29.00 (Best Buy)
cheap 33.6 modem Supra express $30.00 (until home cable/modem arrives)
Jaz drive $289.00

These are realistic prices & make for one of the best combinations that I have seen yet.

To Anyone and all:
I am an apple loving lurker and appreciate this thread very much. You all sound like my friends. I have read several good things on the thread about the 20th anniversary Mac. Please tell me where I can learn more about it and order one for myself. I live in the boonies where apples don't grow. Linda's last remark.."it's beautiful" , sold me.
Thanks.
Herb

<<That 20th Anniversary Mac is beautiful. I'm jealous! I'd love to have one.>>

Design-wise I think it's the future of what PCs will look like.

Functionally, it's the equivalent of a Quadra 800 isn't it? Or is it more like a Powerbook 540C? I forgot what it's performance was.
