Ron,

You said, "I can't make an intelligent response because I am somewhat in awe of these
statements. What is your purpose in investing in the market? To own a piece of
TXN?"

You say this as if I'm an idiot if my purpose in investing in the market is to own a piece of TXN. Yet, that IS my purpose in investing in the market. I don't consider it investing in the 'market'. I consider it owning a piece of TXN, which is literally exactly what I am doing, and you are doing, and everyone is doing when they are buying stocks. They are buying the companies. Period. Losing sight of that fact is totally ignorant and perhaps dangerous.

I fully respect market timers, and I am obviously in the minority here as a buy-and-holder. But if you consider yourself a value investor you are flying with one eye blind if you don't at a minimum read about Buffett's style. After that, your call. Buffett's primary mentality is that you are buying a piece of the company, and should treat it as such. Michael Burry contrasted the two value approaches perfectly - they are different, yet they are also both value.
