However, I've had a third party Jaz drive for the past year without incident. I think the key is to read the operational instructions and warnings. The computer support guys didn't believe me when I told them the strict conditions under which my Jaz runs. 1) Do not tilt it on it's side. Sure, you can do this with a regular external hard drive, but not the jaz. Keep it horizontal and FLAT! No sloping angles! 2) Do not move while the drive is in operation. Again, at work, we roughouse the equipment, but I follow the instructions and do not move the drive not even a bit! 3) Properly unmount the drive before ejecting the cartridges. Seems to work for me. -Bill_H
