Tunica,

Sorry it's taken so long to respond.

Yes Cisco/Stratacom have come a long way. This is consistent with Cisco's track record of effective acquisitions for market access and technology that they then apply their well known R&D committment and talent for long term success. (They miss a few too).

As for NNs lead I would agree they should win but....refer back to my posts about management stumbling. When a market takes off a company must serve that market (for many years NN developed the market) but now we see TM is right, and, boom it takes off. Now NN must be successful in serving that market. Unfortunately Cisco wrote the book on strong operational management when serving their chosen network markets.

I know this answer does not address the technical side of NN vs Cisco but I do think it points out that a broad range of markets and products require companies with multiple strong products/product lines. Thus one box to box or part number comparison only indicates a short term lead or failure. What we all agree is telcos look for long term success in companies to bet on their technology for the long haul. IF NN continues to stumble then telcos make safer decisions.

Operational capabilities = good products, on time, in sufficient quantities, engineered and built with quality.

IMO Mark
