Hi Dan O "I think we will see an increase in the growth of pc sales, fwiw." belated reply..... not only in PC's in general, but in storage IN PARTICULAR. IMHO MSFT has, directly or indirectly, caused many of the major swings in Tech stock prices in the past years. The advent of Windows 95 left many PC's at the time with a severe lacking of HDD capacity. Office 97 was a further brick in the wall. And now we can expect Windows 98, although I have no data, is rumored to require a football field of HDD capacity due to some extent to the voice recognition and actuation functions. So, on the one hand we have the sub $1000 pc which is the go-getter for keeping the annual B/B ratio at around the 20%. Secondly we have a new operating system coming on stream which promises to make the majority of boxes already out there to be suddenly lacking disk space. And thirdly, it would appear logical at lest to my simple mind, that if voice recognition is good for MS programmes, then it must be good for others too. So maybe we will be drawing diagrams with an audio activated Corel Draw, and (literally) telling Larry to go screw...... Where will it all end? I don't know, but it it must surely mean good times for the HDD biz. I am probably wistfully daydreaming after having had a lunchtime beer too many. But nevertheless, I see enough events on the short term horizon to dispel any short term doubts. If however my logic has some grains of truth in it, then we must pick those companies most likely to profit most from the boom. I personally back QNTM a) it has the low cost big foot concept b) it is the least vertically integrated (it can respond faster) c) it has of course DLT as a further arrow to its bow Regards Alan (member of the QNTM 39ers club)
