As a purely mathmatical/financial tool, they are the inverse of each other, one is for speculation or hedging one side and the other is for the inverse..

Mathmatically and statistically they are like a left and a right shoe.. if they arent, what are they??? LOL

And if the formulae is the same with the same components to "value" them I cant see that there is a difference.. the difference is that calls have more action, more numbers played excersized usually etc..

Still, the real test and the sufficient test is on the call side where the volitility really occurs.. <IMHO> of course...
