Re -- my understanding is that margins are increasing due to Compaq gaining share in the high-end enterprise market.

That is why CPQ's strategic acquistion of DEC makes sense. CPQ saw the price war coming, and have made adequate provisions to maintain margins thro Tandem and DEC.

Question... If your profit per machine remains relatively stable and the price of the machine drops and you sell the same number of machines. Does that mean that your margin go up and profits remain the same?
