PLovering,

That has been my point also. Individuals like Ellison must constantly prove they are right to themselves and to others - many call that a big ego. At this time he is driven, and will drive others around him to perform, as their corporate name and his personal reputation is on the line. I will be shocked if they don't exceed estimates this quarter, particularly after his comments, which he picked the time and place to make were so bold. Know nothing but that is probably why there are so many comments, rumors, etc. by and about there sales force.

We'll all know in a week who is right, but I agree with you that he and ORCL are smarting after last quarter and want their 'good name' and reputations as industry leader back. They ain't no microsoft, but they ain't no AMD either.

regards,

Ed

I read that ORCL had stopped some projects to better earnings. Ellison said this and that Asia would not hurt earnings. If this is true maybe ORCL will start beating estimates. Maybe last quarter was the wake up call they needed. I guess we'll know next week.
