Bo, I know what you mean. I spent over $7,000 in 1996 in commissions to my broker. Those same trades would have cost me only $126 going through NDB. When I added that up at the end of 1996, it became obvious to me that I needed to make a change.

If you use your broker's help, then it is good to use your broker. But if you make your own decisions and do your own research, why throw money away. Some people keep two accounts, which is really not a bad idea.

Personally, I usually prefer to call the companies in which I invest myself. I just think it gives me a better feel for what is going on.

Bo, I use Ameritrade.

A. $8 on the internet (listed stocks only)
B. $12 by automated telephone system (listed only)
C. $18 with a live broker.

BB-stocks can be done only by C. Lately, it has meant a long wait.
