rrman, I presume you are talking about Indonesia, there of course the market has undergone a much bigger down sizing. On the other hand, if you can select the companies that are heavily involved in exporting and thus their future revenues will be tied closely to international currencies, then you might very well find some winners. The revenues in term of Rupiah are going to explode over the next few years. Of course, try and make sure these companies are solvent, if their debt loads were in foreign currencies while the assets backing these debts were in local currencies, the current holders of the stock might have to yield ownership, to a large extent, to the debt holders.
