Salesman ($4.25/hr) Bob: "Hell if I know!"

Style,

Compelling argument. FYI, the minimum wage has been $5.15/hour since Sep 1, 1997: dol.gov

There is no way the average consumer is going to even consider that a factor in their purchase decision.

The only reason it matters is that theoretically, RISC architecture is more scalable, meaning that future RISC processors ought to be able to show greater performance gains over earlier generations. For any particular, existing computer, it is irrelevant.

So to continue your hypothetical dialog, delete the last line and replace with:

Salesman ($5.15/hr) Bob: "What does RISC get you? Well, in a year, when your computer is obsolete, you'll be able to buy another RISC computer then that's much faster than this one, but at least you won't have to buy new software for it. Oh wait, no, you'll have to do that, too, because Word 0 won't read Word 98 files."

Supervisor Irene: "Pack your bags, Bob."

>>>It is difficult to compare the two. The DELL unit uses CISC and the Macs use
RISC.<<<

There is no way the average consumer is going to even consider that a factor in their
purchase decision. LOL! I'm just trying to picture a salesperson at Best Buy trying to sell
a PPC based on CISC vs RISC architecture. ;o)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Average John, his wife, and 2.2 kids: "Hey, what's to convince me I should buy this
PPC and not this more affordable Dell over here?"

Salesman ($4.25/hr) Bob: "Well ya see...this PPC over here uses RISC architecture --
yessiree!"

Average John, his wife, and 2.2 kids: "Um, ok that's all well and good, but what does
that mean for us?"

Salesman ($4.25/hr) Bob: "Hell if I know!"

Style,

Now you are getting into marketing. You are absolutely correct and I laughed forever reading your post. It is too classic and accurate.

The next question:

Average John:
"Who do I ask when I need help with this Mac? My friends all have Window based machines"

Salesman Bob:

"Do not ask me. I know nothing about them."
