In regards to the Japanese economy, from my own personal experience here in Japan, I don't perceive much of a change in the 5 years I have been here. However The cost of living is lower now than during the (in)famous bubble economy and the Japanese now seem to actually compare prices of items before they buy them.

The problem for me is that I send Japanese yen home to the U.S. and right now I'm not particularly happy with the current exchange rate.

Many Japanese live with their families (parents) even after marriage and they now how to save their money unlike many Americans, so that to acts as a financial buffer in times of difficulty.

In general though I don't perceive too much of a economic hardship here. Even my business here is still lucrative and going along as always.

Pheonix
