Paulo, It may be that today a "one day" correction counts, but it is difficult for me to accept the fact that human nature has changed so much.

Perception is more than a scare and it takes longer to sink in.

Therefore, I would not call October 27, 1997 a correction but just a "scare" driven by inadequate "collars" on the NYSE. IMHO

Those comments aside, many Tech Stocks went trough a bona fide correction phase, and in my oppinion are in a bear market of their own, with typical bear market rallies. But this is a selective bear move and not the general accepted bear market.

A turning point in a real bear market will be with SPX around 450 or so, much more severe than aticipated.
