I've heard some comments both for and against the decision not to announce the Brooks Fiber approval two weeks ago and personally i think they did the right thing especially if it was clear at that time that the earnings would be near .02. I'd like to add this to the discussion.

If the approval came two weeks ago, that would put it within days of the recent CIEN announcement and certainly could not have helped them in that situation.

WCOM has, and I expect would like to maintain, a good working relationship with CIEN. Is it possible that WCOM asked that FIBR not disclose this information?

In any case these two things happening so close together must have been cause for comment at WCOM. I'd love to know what they were saying.
