Kurlak may no longer be "da man" in semis--not because he's any less competent, but because predicting the interim earnings and price movements of semis over time is perhaps the most difficult task for any analyst to accomplish. There is perhaps no other industry that has as wide price swings as the semis. But that's the joy of trading semis. You can make a lot of money on the downside, shorting the stock and load up on the upswing. Where does this leave LSI. My guess is that for the past ten years and over the next ten years LSI will have become the town whore who overcame a bout of depression to become the leading doyenne of high-tech society. And for the purposes of a trader, nothing could be more interesting than following her around town as she flits about.
