Relevant(?) excerpt -

''Profits from the Information Systems Group were impacted by significant program technology investments made at our Data Systems division. One of the principal investments centered on converting the software in mobile command and control systems to an exclusive, next-generation open architecture system. The development of this product should allow the company to address many sizable new business opportunities."

Looks promising for "Next-Gen" Ancor going forward.

George,

As you know, clustering is one of the things I watch closely. Proprietary clustering methods don't interest me, because of their cost and complexity, but a move to Fibre Channel would open the doors wide to scalable server/storage/workstation clusters.

I was reading through some T11 Fibre Channel Standards Community notes today, and they are discussing many of the same issues that we are. Things like clustering, latency, and marketing. There was even a reference to 2 Gig Fibre Channel silicon! (Customer requests, no less.) Six months to a year down the road, it would be interesting to go back through some of our old messages, and see how close we actually were. We may have been EXTREMELY early, but I think we might just end up being right about Fibre Channel.
