Hi Jim, it's been a while. spct looks like an interesting bet. Seems to have good fundamentals which I know you don't pay much attention to, but I do. I like to have both FA and TA working in my favor to overcome all my many screw-ups. Interesting discussion about what makes bottoms and bases. Do you have any theories of why double bottoms exist Psyclogically? Why not single bottoms or triple bottoms? That question has bothered me a long time, but I've never seen anyone able to answer it. Also, do you use Bollinger Bands at all. They seem to have some reasonable utility for indicating very short term overbought and oversold situations. In terms of the market, like everyone else I had a great Feb which made up for my piss poor previous disastrous months. Now however, I have no strong intuitions and am just kind of looking and waiting. My record when I get strong feelings is actually amazingly good. My problem is trading when I don't have these feelings. Then it's pretty bad.

agree with most of what you say except for comparison of IOM and NOVL, IOM Rev. still growing at least 20%, new users every day, only looked at NOVL once and decided it wouldn't grow, could be wrong, but when I looked at growth had been single digits at best, perhaps worse, don't follow it closely. I will buy IOM under 9, have been looking at SPCT, haven't committed yet but could very shortly, esp. if it goes down a little more; key is will it also grow 20%+. If not, won't even consider it.

VERY CURIOUS as to other opinions on SPCT growth.

Thanks Jim. I am long March 20 calls on SPCT, just sold my PWAV this morning b4 this reading your message because of concerns similar to the ones described by you. On IOM, I also have some Mar 10 calls because I am thinking that it may form a flying bottom around 8.5 here. My mistake is that I didn;t let it form this bottom first, but tried to anticipate it. Never do this! Thanks again, and I wish you well as well

Jim-
do you make anything on the volume? I noticed that it picked up a little on Friday, with an accumulated buyer on Instinet of approx. 50,000 shares. At what point do the MM stop holding down the price below 17.5 and let it rise again. At this point, I find it hard to believe that it is anything other than MM that keep the price down. Nice channel play between 17 and 20.5, if it ever breaks above that...

Additionally, since you are a proponent of the depressed cycle, what do you think of TSEMF. It come out about the same time as SPCT with earnings above expected and growth warnings, too. Stock was hammered and never recovered, still beating estimates.

Sam

from 17+ to 20+ to 15+ to 17- in a real short time....unusual..., especially when it's pattern and OBV was so positive around 17., and even at 20, just last week....so, I don't think I've ever seen a chart like this became....obviously, broke pattern yesterday, so selling into strength for quick, small loss....as normally occurs when I get a rare break like SPCT just did....it's just one of a bunch of positions for me, so no significant damage....it may yet revalidate technically, but I must adhere to the rules of my concept, so best wishes to all, and, while I am, of course, miffed, it's just an unemotional cut loss for me....sure, it's still cheap long-term, and a leader, fundamentally, but, as you know, I just don't employ those factors into my timing....quick, small, cut losses to me are just not that upsetting....I must move on, best wishes to all...a rare, yet small, loss from such a pattern, for me....will try to learn from it somehow.
this pattern has/had worked so well, so many times previously, for me....
