Facts about the TP- 600, backing up Brad,s statement that the INS will not stay with ink and roll.

The reject rate of Ink and Roll is about 45%
The reject rate of the TP-600 is less then 5%

The TP-600 saves about 45 minutes per person fingerprinted and recorded. At 1 million plus a year going through INS that would add up to an enormous amount of man hours. This savings alone justifies the cost of the equipment. Also remember that 45% of Ink and Roll is rejected which means yet more wasted man-hours and longer uncertainty about the applicant.

The TP-600 takes a reading of any foreign material on the platen before the fingerprint is taken. The software eliminates that false debris from the finished fingerprint, leaving a clean FBI approved product.

The TP-600 takes the fingerprint as one image. Other brands of machines take slices of the fingerprint and then add them together. The slice and dice method is not the preferred method. IDX's is.
