BULLETIN: NEWS FROM NEWPORT----(Cambridge MA) At 12:40 this afternoon, I emailed Tom Burgess. The following is what I wrote:

"RE: Congratulations on your baby!!!

...Please respond to the Wired reports with a letter to the editor.

...Please set up a shareholder mailing list and send a copy of this letter, and other updated information.

...Please put out a press release indicating who is doing the financials and when they are expected to be released for public scrutiny.

...Please do everything you can to help those of us shareholders being held to the cliff with one hand only."

Mr. Burgess responded with the following:

"Good thoughts! We are working on all of the above and plenty more.......

Who are you?

Would you be interested in organizing an 'unofficial' mailing list?

Tom"

Aside from saying I'll be happy to be helpful here, I'll reserve comment and wait for SI forum feedback. Let me know what you think and what you want to do.

VBH, I liked your point about being a responsible journalist...

"While I would in most respects agree with this thinking I would like to add that as a former journalist...there is NO fine line of being a responsible journalist...deciphering that fine line when your opinion can do incredible damage to a person and/or business/company is just plain irresponsible.. but the question is what was the intent behind the story...I do, as another poster stated, find it rather odd that NO other wire services picked up these stories..."

I still believe that we will receive the other half of the 'story' from the company, and would have liked to have seen Wired digest that information against the 'dirt' they uncovered.

IMO the good that came out of all of this is that those of us that are still around because we believe in the concept of the company, and the market potential DCLK and NETZ have their eyes wide open and are demanding company information. Hype is gone and bantering has subsided for a little while.

Good luck to all, in whatever investments your currently holding...

...but the question is what was the intent behind the story...

It would appear their intent is to dig deeper into this and go beyond the press releases and Internet hype. As to whether publishing their opinion will do damage or not, that will remain to be seen. If they turn out to be correct, they're heroes for saving investors from a scam. If they're wrong, this is only a little water on the fire, and likely NETZ will recover quickly. As they say, the proof is in the pudding and we will all see when the financial statements come out. Even with the statements, NETZ may be one to watch for a while, as the problems that have been recently described might not have had an effect on 1997 statements, but could down the road.

...find it rather odd that NO other wire services picked up these stories...

Wired isn't your typical wire service, in that it isn't carrying press releases from companies, although it does pick up some stories from Reuter's and others. It could be better described as online magazine, since it has it's own writers. Being technology focused to some extent would also explain their interest in an Internet stock.
Does anyone know if Wired even puts their stories out to the wire services?
