TOKYO, March 5 (Reuters) - Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei average fell below 17,000 in early morning trade on Thursday, as a decline in Wall Street stocks and Intel Corp's <INTC.O> unexpected earnings warning overnight weighed down Japanese high-technology shares, brokers said. At 0025 GMT, the Nikkei 225 average was down 172.52 points, or 1.01 percent, at 16,923.08. Its March futures were down 110 points at 16,940. There is no large after hour block selling. I really do not think we will see the 20's.

Lucky me...I had to work today...sold 2500 SMOD At high of day...canceled my order to buy ASND @ 34...BOT 2500 SMOD at Low.... When ASND bottoms out it will be a great investment for a nice short term run! What $30 to 40 in about 60days? Jeff

blankmind, WHy? Just because ASND is the whipping boy everytime some tech co. does not make its quarterly expectations? I do not see where INTC and the networking co's. have anything to do unless INTC makes the chips for them too, which I doubt very much. I think a lot of people are taking advantage of INTC's short comings to spread just about any info with the intent of the end justifies the means. Bunk! peacelover
