CPQ and IBM are selling so many AMD-based PCs that the cloners are complaining about not getting an adequate supply.

Intel shakes industry with sales outlook

mercurycenter.com

I think it is finally sinking in that it is very hard for Intel to sell a $700 chip into a $1000 PC.

As another article I read this morning said, the problem is that all available software today works well on the $1000 PC, including the latest 'bloated' Microsoft products.

When that is the case, you get back to what one of my customers once asked me when I tried to sell him the latest and the greatest PC .... Is there a race? Is there some kind of a prize?

:-))
