fred, the bottom line is this. intc has entered a new phase in their business. their competitors are no longer very far behind. the difference between a 386 and 486 is many times greater than between a p200 and a pii 300. period. this is a different environment and intc's functional lead over its competitors is about80-90 less than in the past. hence, their competitors make inroads and intc's eps must reset before going up again. if intc is as good as you think then they will grow again. the question is from what basis and how long it will take to reset to that basis.

I don't think this is a factor, or DELL's recent report would have been affected as well.
