>>If I had a penny for every time I heard this over the past 10 years, I'd have more money than from my INTC profits<<

fred, iwas very specific in not just saying t

>>True, but many people are still running P90's or P75's or even 486's and going from
one of these machines to a PII 300, 333 (and soon to be 400+) is every bit as
dramatic as going from a 386 to 486 especially when you consider the other
motherboard advances.<<

why go to a p300 when you can go to a p200, pay hundreds and hundreds less and not even miss out on any performance? you didn't answer that question. and that IS THE question.

>>IMO, this will take a few quarters but it will happen as sure as the sun will come up
tomorrow. The global technology revolution is in its infancy and Intel remains at the
heart of this revolution.<<

this seems fair. i can't venture a guess at this juncture. i thought your post was to disagree with my reset paradigm and i find out we agree ;-)

intel is the best chip company by far. i'm just not convinced they aren't the best in what will be a less than productive business environment for a period of time. use last q and this q as an example of what i mean. intel is no longer a growth stock. that is, until they grow again ;-)

**** Intel's Andrew Grove *****
Just caught the end of an interview with Andrew Grove on the
Charlie Rose show where he envisions a billion computers in use
connected to 100 million servers on the Internet.
The reason why computers will be used for the Internet says Grove
is that downloading data for storage and manipulation can only
happen with computers.

No one should be surprised that the CPU count has gone down.
We have all known that the prices are coming down on the CPU's.
Including a lot of would be buyers waiting for better prices.

Heck most everyone has gone or is going to just in time inventory,
I can get all the parts that's needed to build a system in one days
notice.
The street won't understand this tomorrow.

Looks like Intel counts revenue when product ships.
