Steve,

OK, on a more serious note....I agree with much of your longer term vision but feel that along with many others you are underestimating the continual need for more power.

<I know about photoshop houses and 3d rendering firms.. but that is only a small %>

Add to that:

1) research which requires major computational power

2) large database/spreadsheet applications

3) vastly increasing numbers of servers to drive the internet and intranets

4) computer aided design

5) presentation graphics

Much of the demand for lower powered systems is incremental. The same people who in the past wanted/needed more speed, still want/need more speed.

As for the future, I fully agree that voice recognition and video will be driving forces.
