After watching and reading about Herr Gates the last day or so, this technology announcement by IBM seems to be a page right out of M-soft's playbook -- squelch competition by announcing your own vapor product. It will be interesting to see how this product niche develops over the next year or so.

Allen, I was using the term "commodity" in the same sense that you did in the portion of your posting that described the Shark vs. Zip. My definition of commodity is more at the "box" as compared to the "interchangabiliy" level of the product.

In any event, as I said a number of times in other posting, IOM is going to have to compete again many other suppliers of similar products.

Looking forward to the action tomorrow morning...should be lots of fun. (Joke)
