Wired Magazine is read by 'wire-heads.' It's both flashy and technical. It's not like Life Magazine. Which reminds me:

"That's life."
"What's Life?"
"Life Magazine."
"How much?"
"One dollar."
"I've only got .50."
"That's life."

What I am most concerned about is the fact that it was not a balanced story. Perhaps NETZ thought it premature--with financials around the corner--to comment and held off, not thinking they were going to be so blasted.

As to the criticisms of the investor? If you don't succeed the first time, try, try again. That he's put money into another investment is not unusual. Think of all the different kinds of shareholders who've invested in this or any other stock. There's probably an abundance of checkered or controversial pasts: Christians, criminals and crackerheads, a mixed bag of everyone for sure.

There will be a NETZ counter of some kind. There has to be. Wired has moved a piece into position. NETZ's move.

Can Wired's move spark a conflict with the SEC? Perhaps. But more likely such an influence would come from a more powerful source of media, other than Wired. They should keep reporting, however I hope future articles have a better balance and clearly states the company's position.

Think what the share price will be like if NETZ sustains its way through this. Ultimately, the scrutiny will make it a better company, I believe. We'll see.

I guess what I am asking is what is the reputation of the paper?
what is its history...accurate...speculative...held in high or low regard??

It's a magazine that's been around for about 5 years. From what I've read, I find it pretty accurate and interesting. Articles are usually well researched and thorough, and cover a variety of topics (usually having to do with technology in one way or another). "Flashy and technical" is a good way of putting it (thanks PartyTime).
