Great Post! I think you overplay competition from AMD and Cyrix (although it doesn't necessarily help Intel). The main problem is that the pentium is to god damn good. No one needs to upgrade any more and as is to be expected the chip prices keep declining eroding the margins, and THEN the competitiors have something to offer which erodes sales. Before, Intel kept leap-frogging so by the time AMD and Cyrix could get an equivalent chip out the prices were so ridiculous that Intel didn't really care cuz everyone was buying the NEW WIZA BANG (read expensive) chip sets. That is no longer the case and that is a significant reason for Intel woes.
