George, you have been right in the short term selling DEC. But as later posts show CPQ is getting quite a deal as we discussed earlier when the deal was announced. Edward says that CPQ will be doing 50 bill by the year 2000. To me with a forward looking Market ,the valuations will be realized in 99. CPQ is netting 6%. DEC after they had finished all their restructuring was talking about 7%. So after they have finished the digestion and put in Best Practices etc and gotten rid of Palmer, if they reach 6% on the whole 50 Bill that is 3 bill in earnings. I am using 750 mill shares assuming no more acquisitons so I get $4 share. It seems like a long term hold to me and in fact one could buy calls and sell puts to lock in CPQ shares for the 30 cash we are getting. So the reason for this post is although you took nice profits , with the river of Life and changing currents, you could miss the future profits easily in CPQ as you go on to other fish in the river.
