Kevin, what a major marketing blunder for Intel. The last thing a company wants to do is associate a brand name with their low-end product.

My first impression of "celeron" was that its is a replacement for polyester, as in "polyester suit."

It will become an embarrassment to admit that you own a celeron computer.

Consumers will recognize it as a gimmick. A confusing gimmick because the next "celeron" (the Mendocino with on-chip cache) will bear no resemblance to it.

What a klutzy name!

I'm sure I can find a post that pre-dates that. <G> On the Intel thread. But hey, I'm a nice guy so I'll split whatever Intel gives me for the name. <GGGG>
