Absolutely boogles the mind to think how much it would cost to cover 1.5 millions WFSI shorts. That's about 45 days normal volume. It just seems like a totally unsupportable position.

Regards,

Mark

Jeff, Thanks for your evaluation. It seems like I would add the positive influence of MM's to your list. It could be they see a great opportunity to test the metal of some short sellers.

For the brief moment of today and the last few days, I would say the Market Makers have been pushing the price up. They sat the WFSI bid/ask above the last trade for half a day yesterday and in the end they got it. Today, they've pushed the ask up to 13 1/2.

We see WES above 20 now. I personally feel these 2 companies have a lot i common and the spread between WES and WFSI is getting greater. I expect that to narrow. Question is which one will have the most pull. With the strength of mortgage and recent consolidations of consumer loans companies like Money Store, I think we'll see WFSI pull up.

Regards,

Mark
