Buying IDTI would be a brilliant strategic move for Intel. I doubt that it will happen though because they are entrenched in their own engineering, and obsessed with killing off AMD. Intel sees slot 1 as their AMD killer and is unlikely to stray from the PII strategy.

Ultimately the Intel board of directors will shake down the management and replace them with people who understand the realities of the sub-$1000 PC marketplace. If you review the history of Compaq during 1991, you will see a very similar scenario.
